Background
Stem Cell Factor (SCF), also known as steel cytokine or cytoplasmic conduction factor, is a multifunctional growth factor protein that plays an important regulatory role in cell proliferation, differentiation and survival. Its name comes from its key role in the regulation of stem cells.
The main function of SCF is to activate multiple signaling pathways, including PI3K/Akt, MAPK and JAK/STAT pathways, by binding to its receptor c-Kit (also known as CD117). Activation of these pathways has critical effects on the proliferation and differentiation of hematopoietic stem cells, the development of neural cells, and the repair
and regeneration of embryonic and adult tissues.
In the hematopoietic system, SCF plays a key role in the physiological regulation of stem cells, promoting the proliferation and differentiation of hematopoietic stem cells into different blood cell series. In addition, SCF is also involved in the development and repair process of the nervous system and plays an important role in the survival of neurons and the growth of axons.
