Background | Receptor-type tyrosine-protein phosphatase eta or protein-tyrosine phosphatase receptor type J (R-PTP-J or CD148) are membrane protein tyrosine phosphatase initially identified on the membrane of HeLa and F-36P human leukemic cells. It contains an extracellular portion compromised of eight fibronectin III domains, a transmembrane segment and an intracytoplasmic tail which contains a single PTP domain. The presence of fibronectin III motifs in the extracellular domain suggest its possible involvement in cell adhesion processes. |
